Cross River State now has a governor-elect, Senator Prince Otu. He will be sworn-in in 68 days time as Ayade will be taking his last honor as our Governor. Like other States, what I want to point out applies to all out going and incoming governors. The only peculiarity with our State Cross River, is the hyper-active rhythm our own Governor has employed in managing his exit-mood emotions.

Yesterday the governor, in two different press releases, fired two of his aides who didn’t support his election. Tony Adah, SA Project Monitoring and SA Political, Peter Okaba, and replaced them with Godwin Orim and Romanus Abua, respectively. And we hear more firings are under way as the emperor continues to rue his election loss. But it’s only 68 days to go. I don’t know what project is on going that anyone wants to monitor.

But it will help in the management of his emotions, as the curtains begin to fall on him, if the Governor can prepare his mind and expect the following:

1. Activities including visitations by local and international visitors to Cross River will henceforth trend towards Prince Otu’s house than his own.
2. The media, including his own numerous media aides, will now pay more attention to the activities of the Governor-elect than anything he will be doing.
3. The governor-elect, including some ‘entitlers’ who are already milling around him must have contacted the State bankers by now with some caution signs and some of the bank managers will start avoiding the Governor’s calls.
4. Even some security chiefs hitherto loyal, will begin to shy away from the Governor’s calls and subtly resist some of his usual demands.
5. Plenty of the governor’s aides, close friends and contractors, will now miss his calls and tell him they were in the bathroom or just forgot the phone on the table and were outside.
6. Plenty aides including personal staff, will now begin to come to work late and the most probable reason is that they passed by the Governor-elect’s house to say hi. But they won’t have to tell the governor or chief of staff that. They will just find another excuse.
7. If Governor Ayade is getting 100 phone calls a day now, they will begin to decrease to 60, 40, 20, 10, 5, and less everyday as his days in office also begin to wind down. The phones may even not ring some days.
8. More shocking leaks from Government will now also flow to the media and other interested parties.
9. Some close aides will miss work even for 48 hours to May 29 and the governor will only see them at the handing over venue and they will have already made excuses knowing they are no longer consequences.
10. Then he should also cast his mind back and remember it was also the same thing that must have happened around him and between him and his predecessor.

This realization will be the anti-dote for the erratic overdrive that our emperor has accelerated. It wasn’t the fault of the people that they rejected him. It was a function of his inability to perform and his consistent mendacity.

The Chairman Anti-Deforestation Task Force in Northern Senatorial District, Ambassador Asegem Emmanuel, has hailed the Director General,All Progressives Congress Campaign Council, Ambassador Soni Abang for his tenacity in ensuring the victory of Senator Prince Bassey Otu in the Gubernatorial Election in Cross River State.

In a congratulatory message he personally signed on Wednesday in Ijiraga, Asegem hailed the DG for his role while piloting the affairs of the campaign Council that evolved practical ways of ensuring victory for the party.

He also said that Ambassador Abang’s positive role as the campaign DG is worthy of note.

“His positive role during the campaigns carved a good image for the party against an entrenched opposition and it shows that he possesses great courage and productive ideologies as exemplified in the issue based campaigns in the state.

“Ambassador Abang roled out his sleeves in what appears to be a manhunt for diamond yet he prevailed with plaudits for the All Progressives Congress which has now asserted itself as the ruling party in the state.

“I take this opportunity to congratulate you on your well deserved success and you must be highly content with this victory as you have undoubtedly worked very hard given that your commitment and dedication has helped the party to emerge victorious in a keenly contested election”.

In a public statement on social media, a University of Calabar lecturer, Mr. Jerry Etta referred to all “ObIdients” as Idiots and retarded human beings. In his statements, “Only idiots are obedient”. He further explained on his claims, in his words, “Obedient makes you a slave. It turns the individual into a robot like person”.

However, he technically supported the antonym of ObIdient and encourage rebel behavior. In his statements, Etta says, “Disobedience is the receptive spirit available. Be a rebel. Only idiots are obedient”.

His philosophy of promoting disobedience came as a result of an online political ideological debates between ObIdients and APC voters in the (Cross River State Boki Constituency II) State house of assembly polls, as to who is voting wisely. In his conclusion Mr. Jerry Etta held that, “Only retarded individuals are Obedient. Otherwise disobedience is the way of existence”.

Research points that aside being a Unical lecturer, Mr. Etta is also a central grassroot APC faithful.

Cross River State teachers have reacted in several trending videos to the rotten money disbursed by Ayade during his meeting with them on Tuesday, 14th March, 2023.

The meeting where he announced the extension of teacher’s retirement by 5 years and a lifted the embargo on promotion even when the promotion of some teachers and civil servants have not been implemented was alleged to be a persuasion for Civil servants to endorse the APC governorship candidate whom amidst every other disadvantage, is considered as a continuation plan for the Ayades.

There’s a deep distrust and total lack of confidence in his candidacy and ability to perform by majority of Cross Riverians since he intends to sustain the controversial, invincible democratic gains of the present administration.

Luckily, there’s the choice of Senator Sandy Ojang Onor with the experience of an administrator and verifiable track record of conviviality and cooperation with Civil servants while he served as Chairman of Etung LGA. He understands how administration works in the interest of the people.

C’River is a Civil Service state, part of the failure of this administration is due to the levity with which it treated Civil servants.

In its efforts to scale up President Mohammadu Buahri’s policy to get hundred million Nigerians out of poverty in the next ten years, the federal government has said that distribution of 2000 buses to 36 states in the country would commence soon.

The president of the Cross River State Cooperative Transporters Association Limited (apex body) Comr. Julius Obanghe kijuo and his board of directors met with the Honourable Commissioner for Transport in Cross River State, Hon Oqua, to seal a partnership ahead of the federal government’s inter-ministerial program on accelerated poverty eradication (supply of 2000 buses).

The aim of Kijuo’s visit, he explained, was to form a partnership with the government to ensure that his cooperative recommends viable cooperatives in the state that are affiliated with his office as the only Apex transporters cooperative body to benefit from the scheme in accordance with the Federal Government’s distribution directive.

He urges all cooperative transporters associations who want to take advantage of this scheme to register with his office, which is the only State Apax transporters cooperative with which all interested parties must affiliate.

Finally, Kijuo wishes to express his gratitude to the digital Governor of Cross River State for his tireless efforts in attracting development to the state, especially in his desire to grow the transportation sector, among other aspects of his massive progress in the industrialization and agro sectors.

He also told the Commissioner that beginning Tuesday, April 5, 2021, all interested cooperatives in government and private institutions whose activities are related to transportation and wish to benefit from the scheme as affiliated bodies to the Apex will be registered as follows:

The visit is part of the VC’s tour to critical institutions and stakeholders, with a view to build sustainable partnership and collaboration for infrastructural development in the University

The Secretary to the Cross River state Government,  Barr Tina Banku Agbor has been conferred with the prestigious Sir Ahmadu Bello (Sarduana) distinguished Leadership award of Zinariyan Matasan Arewa/Icon of nation building the Northern Youth Association of Nigeria.
The award conceived by the youth body as a befitting gesture to honour worthy individuals whose attainment in life has impacted positively on the life of the citizenry and a way of encouraging them to do more.

Speaking while presenting the award and medal of honour to Barr Tina Agbor in her office the Chairman of the Northern Youth Association of Nigeria Comrade Godiya T.Adams said the NYAN is the apex umbrella body of the youth cutting across the 19 Northern States and FCT Abuja with the shared vision of one people ,one common destiny as exemplified by the founding fathers of the nation especially those from the northern extraction.
On the choice of the SSG for the award the chairman said it was to further emboldened her as a foremost icon of national and international repute,a woman that can be termed the solution to the puzzle called leadership to do more for the youths.
He noted that at a time when Nigerian youths are facing near relegation from the national schemes of affairs, she has continued to exhibit youth friendly disposition and care for whoever comes her way as well as displaying an unmatched nationalistic leadership style that has given youths a renewed hope as leaders of tomorrow.
The group then appealed to her to support their initiative by donating relief materials to the internally displaced peoples camp in the north as a means to  tackle the humanitarian crisis in the area.

Cross River State COVID-19 Response will have greater isolation capacity following the ground breaking ceremony for the ultra-modern Holding bay/ Isolation center at the University of Calabar. This is a huge advancement in the state COVID-19 response as the new Holding bay will increase the Isolation capacity of the state and provide care for student that are suspected cases of COVID-19.

The Honorable Commissioner For Health Dr Betta Edu in the company of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Obi, laid the foundation stone for the construction of an ultra Modern Holding bay and Isolation center in the presence of the DG PHCDA Dr Ekpeyong, SA Health Dr Ushie , Perm Sec State Ministry of Health Bar Takon, members of EOC and the Chairman of UNICAL COVID-19 Taskforce Dr Akiba.

With over 45,000 students back on campus at the University of Calabar, there is an urgent need for heightened preparation and monitoring to prevent COVId-19 out break in the school.

Dr Betta Edu and The entire state COVId-19 taskforce EOC was led round the University by The vice chancellor Prof Florence Obi to assess the level of work done and the gaps that might exist which the state can collaborate with the university to fill such gaps.

Speaking during a tour by the Honorable Commissioner for Health Dr Betta Edu expressed her satisfaction with the level of work and preparedness the VC and her management team has put in place so far to prevent the outbreak of this pandemic in the University.

“I want to wholeheartedly commend the Vice Chancellor and her COVID-19 taskforce team for the efforts they’ve put to ensure the safety of all their returning students, i decided to take this tour to enable me see for myself the level of preparedness put in place by the COVID-19 taskforce team and i must say that am very satisfied with what I’ve seen so far and am assuring parents/guidance that their Wards under Prof Florence Obi are in safe hands. The school has put in place an Auto sanitizing disinfectant tunnel at all the points of entry, including the various offices, hand washing stations, proper transportation monitoring system, infra red screening, disinfecting tunnels, and a standard ultra modern building that will serve as a Holding Bay for both Male and Female student under construction.Dr Edu assured her of massive support and a continuous synergy with Government. Our team will be on ground to help with monitoring.

The Vice Chancellor Prof Florence Obi on her part commended the Commissioner for the massive support from State Government to the Institution thus far, she re-stated her commitment to partner with the CRSG to minimize the number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the State. She thanked the Commissioner for making out time to come inspect the level of compliance, the COVID-19 prevention work done so far and to advise or further guide on necessary gaps that needs to be covered.

The government of Sen Prof Ben Ayade has been of immense support to UNICAL and that i can’t stop commending. The University of Calabar has so far put in place hand washing stations across the entire Campus, over 100 hand held infrared thermometers, 20 standing non-contact infrared thermometers, a holding bay, under construction to serve both Male and Female students, stringent transportation system ensuring social distancing, disinfecting tunnels, compulsory use of facemasks, hand sanitizers at strategic places and offices, as well a student volunteering team to ensure compliance

FIRST BIRTHDAY OF DAMARIS EMMANUEL OMANG! (She’s Year 1 Today).

Hurray, little Damaris Banjuare Emmanuel Omang completes a year today on earth!

With Daddy & Mommy’s love, little Damaris had a bash and fun pool with friends, family and loved ones today, the 17th day of January, in the year of our Lord 2021, (Her Birthday).

The family of Mr. Emmanuel Omang described their little princess’s first birthday on earth as a blessing and a glowing feeling of joy, hence, they organized and wrapped up her first birthday celebration in a grand style. …fun village, cakes, chops, winnings, studio vibes, outdoor gengs where colourful features of the day as Mommy & Daddy showed little Damaris Emmanuel Omang how much they love, cherish and treasure her as their blood.

She couldn’t say a word, but her countenance tell the story how happy, safe and lucky she feels to play and grow in the hands and watch of her Mom & Dad.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAMARIS EMMANUEL OMANG!!!

Grow healthy to the grey and toothless age.” (Mommy & Daddy).

Indeed, “sun set at dawn” in Ntamante Autonomous Community of Ekpashi Ward in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State on Thursday, the 14th day of January, in the year of our Lord 2021, as the Traditional Clan Head/Leader of the community, H.R.H. Chief Cosmas Owan Ofum falls asleep to wake no more in the land of the living.

His sudden transition to eternity came as a huge shock to the entire Ntamante Community and Boki Nation at large at mid-hours of Thursday, 14th January, 2021.

According to sources, he slumped and passed on at Eastern Boki where he and other traditional heads went for a meeting.

However, the remains of the great Hero, Iroko, Retired (but not tired) Nigerian Soldier and Traditional Arrow Head of the great people of Ntamante community, H.R.H. Chief Cosmas Owan Ofum has been taken to the mortuary for further burial arrangement by the family, Ntamante community and Boki Traditional Council.
