The Chairman Anti-Deforestation Task Force in Northern Senatorial District, Ambassador Asegem Emmanuel, has hailed the Director General,All Progressives Congress Campaign Council, Ambassador Soni Abang for his tenacity in ensuring the victory of Senator Prince Bassey Otu in the Gubernatorial Election in Cross River State.
In a congratulatory message he personally signed on Wednesday in Ijiraga, Asegem hailed the DG for his role while piloting the affairs of the campaign Council that evolved practical ways of ensuring victory for the party.
He also said that Ambassador Abang’s positive role as the campaign DG is worthy of note.
“His positive role during the campaigns carved a good image for the party against an entrenched opposition and it shows that he possesses great courage and productive ideologies as exemplified in the issue based campaigns in the state.
“Ambassador Abang roled out his sleeves in what appears to be a manhunt for diamond yet he prevailed with plaudits for the All Progressives Congress which has now asserted itself as the ruling party in the state.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate you on your well deserved success and you must be highly content with this victory as you have undoubtedly worked very hard given that your commitment and dedication has helped the party to emerge victorious in a keenly contested election”.

Cross River State teachers have reacted in several trending videos to the rotten money disbursed by Ayade during his meeting with them on Tuesday, 14th March, 2023.
The meeting where he announced the extension of teacher’s retirement by 5 years and a lifted the embargo on promotion even when the promotion of some teachers and civil servants have not been implemented was alleged to be a persuasion for Civil servants to endorse the APC governorship candidate whom amidst every other disadvantage, is considered as a continuation plan for the Ayades.
There’s a deep distrust and total lack of confidence in his candidacy and ability to perform by majority of Cross Riverians since he intends to sustain the controversial, invincible democratic gains of the present administration.

In its efforts to scale up President Mohammadu Buahri’s policy to get hundred million Nigerians out of poverty in the next ten years, the federal government has said that distribution of 2000 buses to 36 states in the country would commence soon.
The president of the Cross River State Cooperative Transporters Association Limited (apex body) Comr. Julius Obanghe kijuo and his board of directors met with the Honourable Commissioner for Transport in Cross River State, Hon Oqua, to seal a partnership ahead of the federal government’s inter-ministerial program on accelerated poverty eradication (supply of 2000 buses).
The aim of Kijuo’s visit, he explained, was to form a partnership with the government to ensure that his cooperative recommends viable cooperatives in the state that are affiliated with his office as the only Apex transporters cooperative body to benefit from the scheme in accordance with the Federal Government’s distribution directive.
He urges all cooperative transporters associations who want to take advantage of this scheme to register with his office, which is the only State Apax transporters cooperative with which all interested parties must affiliate.
Finally, Kijuo wishes to express his gratitude to the digital Governor of Cross River State for his tireless efforts in attracting development to the state, especially in his desire to grow the transportation sector, among other aspects of his massive progress in the industrialization and agro sectors.

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Florence Banku Obi today visited one of Nigeria’s foremost industrialist, CEO of Innoson Motors, Chief Innocent Chukwuma at his Innoson Technology Factory in Enugu.
The visit is part of the VC’s tour to critical institutions and stakeholders, with a view to build sustainable partnership and collaboration for infrastructural development in the University
The CEO of Innoson motors, who received the VC’s team, expressed happiness with the team over the visit, thereby assuring them of his readiness to partner with the University in the area of development and entrepreneurial growth.

Cross River State COVID-19 Response will have greater isolation capacity following the ground breaking ceremony for the ultra-modern Holding bay/ Isolation center at the University of Calabar. This is a huge advancement in the state COVID-19 response as the new Holding bay will increase the Isolation capacity of the state and provide care for student that are suspected cases of COVID-19.
The Honorable Commissioner For Health Dr Betta Edu in the company of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Obi, laid the foundation stone for the construction of an ultra Modern Holding bay and Isolation center in the presence of the DG PHCDA Dr Ekpeyong, SA Health Dr Ushie , Perm Sec State Ministry of Health Bar Takon, members of EOC and the Chairman of UNICAL COVID-19 Taskforce Dr Akiba.
With over 45,000 students back on campus at the University of Calabar, there is an urgent need for heightened preparation and monitoring to prevent COVId-19 out break in the school.
Dr Betta Edu and The entire state COVId-19 taskforce EOC was led round the University by The vice chancellor Prof Florence Obi to assess the level of work done and the gaps that might exist which the state can collaborate with the university to fill such gaps.
Speaking during a tour by the Honorable Commissioner for Health Dr Betta Edu expressed her satisfaction with the level of work and preparedness the VC and her management team has put in place so far to prevent the outbreak of this pandemic in the University.
“I want to wholeheartedly commend the Vice Chancellor and her COVID-19 taskforce team for the efforts they’ve put to ensure the safety of all their returning students, i decided to take this tour to enable me see for myself the level of preparedness put in place by the COVID-19 taskforce team and i must say that am very satisfied with what I’ve seen so far and am assuring parents/guidance that their Wards under Prof Florence Obi are in safe hands. The school has put in place an Auto sanitizing disinfectant tunnel at all the points of entry, including the various offices, hand washing stations, proper transportation monitoring system, infra red screening, disinfecting tunnels, and a standard ultra modern building that will serve as a Holding Bay for both Male and Female student under construction.Dr Edu assured her of massive support and a continuous synergy with Government. Our team will be on ground to help with monitoring.
The Vice Chancellor Prof Florence Obi on her part commended the Commissioner for the massive support from State Government to the Institution thus far, she re-stated her commitment to partner with the CRSG to minimize the number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the State. She thanked the Commissioner for making out time to come inspect the level of compliance, the COVID-19 prevention work done so far and to advise or further guide on necessary gaps that needs to be covered.

Indeed, “sun set at dawn” in Ntamante Autonomous Community of Ekpashi Ward in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State on Thursday, the 14th day of January, in the year of our Lord 2021, as the Traditional Clan Head/Leader of the community, H.R.H. Chief Cosmas Owan Ofum falls asleep to wake no more in the land of the living.
His sudden transition to eternity came as a huge shock to the entire Ntamante Community and Boki Nation at large at mid-hours of Thursday, 14th January, 2021.
According to sources, he slumped and passed on at Eastern Boki where he and other traditional heads went for a meeting.
However, the remains of the great Hero, Iroko, Retired (but not tired) Nigerian Soldier and Traditional Arrow Head of the great people of Ntamante community, H.R.H. Chief Cosmas Owan Ofum has been taken to the mortuary for further burial arrangement by the family, Ntamante community and Boki Traditional Council.
Politics and Political positions in Nigeria, Cross River State inclusive, has over the years remained predictable with our Political actors believing that it is their exclusive right to determine who gets what within the political terrain, to the total exclusiveness of the masses who are the right people to choose who governs them. In most cases, when the political elites stamps a candidate, the people would only go to the polls to fulfil all righteousness by voting, which sometimes may, or may not count. These has over the years deprived the country of quality leadership and has led to governance of excuses where people will only come into government to give excuses why they could not or cannot lead to create positive impact in the life of the people.
Cross River State have had her own fair share of governance and leadership from 1999 till date . From 1999, we have had leaders come in with their own style of governance, presenting programs and projects they want to achieve. Whether these programs and projects has been achieved or currently has positive impact in the Life of Cross Riverians, is entirely left for the people to say and not the reason why we have written this article. The total debt of Cross River State as at the end of 2017 was approximately #177.16billion with external debt growing to $167.9million in 2017, from $114.9m in 2016. Domestic debt also rose to #125.65billion in 2017 from #116.06billion in 2013. On average, domestic debt grew 2.27% annually between 2013 and 2017. Internally generated revenue (IGR) in the State in 2017 was recorded at #18.10billion, a leap from 2016 levels of #14.78billion, #12billion, #15billion and #13billion in 2013, 2014 and 2015 respectively. Over the years too, the total FAAC allocation received by states have also significantly reduced from #2.9trillion and 2.5trillion in 2013 and 2014 to #1.2trillion and 1.7trillion received in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
The reality in the above financial analysis presents the people of Cross River State with just one option, that is, that we must stamp our foots on the ground to elect for ourself a man, Engr. BEN AKAK, who has run private businesses from scratch to stardom to lead us. A man who has privately managed humans and resources without relying on public funds, a man who in bussiness, understands the pain in loosing and the gain in winning. If we must succeed as a state with the current debt profile, we must understand that successful governments all over the world are currently runed like bussiness ventures where the Chief Executive Officers understands the economic indices of winning and loosing in bussiness. The era of people believing they are entitled to become governor because it was agreed that way, should not be allowed to be for the sake of the state and the future of our unborn children. While we have watched those who run their life on public funds refused to allow the little that is even supposed to come to the ordinary Cross Riverian come to them, Engr. BEN AKAK has been in the forefront impacting lives, creating wealth for citizens and employing citizens from his private pocket to take them out of poverty. The reality that there must be a generational power shift in 2023, makes a great capable leader like Engr. Ben Etim Akak tower above every intending contender to the office of governor in 2023, and the simple reason why we must all que behind him to make and create history of how the people of Cross River State stoop to conquer.
In line with the Agro Industrialization Drive (AID) of his Excellency Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade the Executive Governor of Cross River State, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on public works Comr. Julius O. Kijuo who has been working tirelessly round the clock to making sure the CBN Agro Business Empowerment Scheme not only comes to actualization, but importantly get to the targeted Cross Riverians who are in real need of this life changing and developmental scheme has finally released names of coordinators of the for the 18 Local Government Areas of Cross River State.
